Home from a quilt retreat!

So I've been at a quilt retreat in Michigan for the last 4 days! What fun!!! While I was there, I finished 6 complete quilt tops. (The borders I add here at home). My usual practice is, at a minimum, to have a quilt kit completely cut out before I go. Lately though, I've been going with the blocks done, then all I have to do is the setting blocks and put the quilt top together.

This is the Teal and Gray block of the month from Sonflower Quilts that ended in May 2018. I still have to add the borders to make it a full size quilt.

This was an alphabet panel by artist Janet Wecker-Frisch. I purchased it several years ago. Then thought about making a Christmas quilt for my granddaughter's toddler bed. So I set it using Sonflower Quilts Wonky Block pattern.

This was a Sauder Village block of the month from 2014. I had finished the blocks a while ago, but didn't want to use the book's setting. The blocks unfinished size was 11 3/4 - which is a very unusual size - so it took me a while to find a setting that would work. I'll add borders here at home.

This is an I-Spy quilt. I used a disappearing nine-patch pattern. It's a very busy quilt -but it will be fun to look at.

I made two identical quilts - pictured here is one of them. The fabric is an older fabric line from designer Sandy Gervais. The piecing pattern is called "Big and Bold" from Cozy Quilt Designs. I'll be added a small inner black border with a wider paisley print for the outer border.

Gone at a retreat!

I was at a quilt retreat this past weekend - what fun! I was able to get 3 quilt tops done and some other small projects. Ready to post more client quilts tomorrow. Stay tuned!

This quilt pattern is called "Bjorn Bear" from Elizabeth Hartman. It was a LOT of work to piece those bears. But I love it so much! I'm keeping it and putting it on our spare bed for when my granddaughter comes to visit!

This one is called "A Mother's Love" and it was a block of the month from The Quilt Patch in Tecumseh Michigan. I think it was from 2010?. My mom did the hand applique in the middle, so I'm definitely keeping this one.

This is "Gypsy Sampler" block of the month from Sonflower last year. I chose to do it with a background of Kona Espresso, instead of a neutral beige/white. Love how it turned out. Have to make it bigger yet for my aunt and uncle.

Home from a quilt retreat

Good Monday Morning, my friends! I just got back from a 4 day quilt retreat and I'm catching up with postings. Thought I'd show you a few things we did at our retreat - and I got to go with my Mom.

Also, in an effort to make our house and my studio more accessible, we just had work done to our front porch to level the concrete, tuckpoint the brick around the porch and installed a very sturdy and nice handrail. Now.... back to work

quilt retreat

I just got back from a 4 day quilt retreat at Sauder Village. We had so much fun! I managed to make 3 quilt tops of my own - here's pictures of two. Now on to take down Christmas from our home. I do love how the Christmas lights look on these dark and dreary and cold winter days.

Sauder Village quilt retreat Oct 2015

So last weekend I was a quilt retreat at Sauder Village in Archbold Ohio. It was wonderful! My friends were there and I roomed with my Mom! So I was able to finish a quilt top for my nephew, 8 pillowcases, and 3 paper pieced blocks. I also posted a picture of my design wall with all my Arcadia Avenue paper pieced blocks that I've done so far - this is a block of the month from Sonflower Quilts and they're just SO beautiful to look at!!!

Wonky Christmas Tree Quilt

Got back from the retreat safely - but sick. Better now. But at the retreat, I did manage to get one quilt top done - a really fun wonky Christmas tree quilt. I've had this for 4 years - and just needed friends around for encouragement to get it started and then finish it. I can add a couple borders and make it any size - from twin to king size. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, just let me know. After you decide on the size you want, I would add borders if needed, and then quilt it with a beautiful gold metallic thread! This will be a gorgeous quilt when it's all done.

Quilt Retreat!!!

I'm getting ready to leave for a quilting retreat sponsored by the Sauder Village Threads of Tradition Quilt Shop. I've got my stuff together and here's a picture. The funny thing is that the biggest suitcase isn't for my clothes - it's for all my quilt projects. Having fun!!!!

retreat

Had lots and lots of fun at the Sauder Village Quilters' Retreat. I worked on several projects, but did end up finishing one quilt top completely. It turned out so well, I think it's going into the quilt show next year. (can't show a pic - will have to wait till after the show next year, .......sorry)

Going to a retreat!

I'm leaving now for a 3 day quilters retreat to Sauder Village. Every year it seems I have more and more to bring with me. Of course, the biggest suitcase is for all my projects to work on!
