The 2025 Festival of Quilts continues! Today are my five quilts from 2025.

The 2025 Festival of Quilts continues! This is something I do every year where I re-post pictures of all the quilts that I have quilted for the previous year. Today are the pictures of the 5 quilts I was able to quilt up this year. First is light blues and browns quilt called Be Bold. Second is black, blue and gray/beige quilt from a modified Sonflower Quilts pattern. Third is another black, blue and gray smaller quilt called Intrigue. Fourth is a mid century modern orange, brown and teal quilt. And Lastly is the Sail quilt, which I hang over our fireplace.

Back from Disney World!

Rick and I and the kids just got back from a week at Disney World. What fun! Our first family vacation with just us and the kids in 20 years. I've got 5 client quilts to finish and then I'm retired. So I'll keep posting pictures of quilts as I complete them. Then starting on January 1, I'll have the Parade of Quilts, where I post pictures of all the quilts I finished for everyone over the past year. Look for another post tomorrow with a quilt I finished.

Exciting News - I'm Retiring

Exciting News - I'm Retiring! I've been thinking about this for quite some time, particularly when I started back to work this year in February. Our Massachusetts daughter and her family have moved in with us for the next 2 years, while our son in law finishes up seminary. So this will give me lots more time with our granddaughter. I'll also have more time for doing my in-depth Bible studies, and of course, more time for sewing and quilting for my own things. I have 31 client quilts in my studio right now. I'll finish those and then I'm retired. I expect that will be about the middle of November, which will be right before our family trip to Disney World. There are a couple places to take your quilts for longarm quilting: The Quilt Foundry in Maumee Ohio, Material Obsession in Tecumseh Michigan and Threads of Tradition/Sauder Village Quilt Shop in Archbold Ohio. Thank you all for a wonderful 14 years!

What's on the Quilting Frame? Be Bold from me

What's on the Quilting Frame? As many of you know, I was having machine troubles earlier this year. After we had the machine fixed, I put on one of my own quilts. This one is called Be Bold. The pattern was from the magazine American Patchwork and Quilting. I made this quilt using a different colorway than the pattern, but was able to use scrap yardage out of my stash. I chose the quilting pattern Meander 3. Then I used a variegated brown thread called Sinai.

What's on the Frame? My own Tula Pink Butterfly quilt.

What's on the Frame? My own Tula Pink Butterfly quilt. I started this quilt about 2 years ago and made it from my scraps of fabric from the designer Tula Pink. I quilted it with the pattern Waves 3, because it gives motion to the area around the butterfly. Then I used a variegated light pink, yellow, blue and green thread called Tiny Tuts, so that you could see the quilting in the background. The last picture gives perspective as we hung it on the wall - it's a huge quilt - about 93x93".

What's on the Frame? This is my quilt called "Mother's Love"

What's on the Frame? This is my quilt called "Mother's Love" that I made and gave to a dear friend of mine. This was a block of the month from The Quilt Patch in Tecumseh Michigan from many years ago. My Mom did the applique in the center of the quilt and I came up with my own setting. I used the quilting pattern Encircled 2. Then I used a variegated pink and brown thread called Valley of the Queens.

What's on the frame? Our granddaughter's besties quilts

What's on the Frame? So our kids and granddaughter came to visit us last month. Our granddaughter has a best friend - so what did any good quilting grandma do? I made them both Besties quilts. These are made from Tula Pink fabrics. I used the quilt pattern called Yellow Brick Road. I used a new thread called Desert Dawn, which is variegated with yellow and salmon. Then I used the quilting pattern Encircled. And to finish it off - a Tula Pink ladybug backing!

What's on the Frame? My daughter's quilt called Ombre All Day

What's on the Frame? I made this quilt for my daughter's birthday. She wanted a green quilt, so here it is. It's a pattern called Ombre All Day by Then Came June. My daughter is the art student, so she picked out a thread called Passion Fruit. It's a variegated green, yellow, orange and purple. She liked the way the purple in the thread contrasted against the green. Then we used a large spiral quilting pattern.

What's on the Frame? My own Cream and Sugar quilt

What's on the Frame? My own Cream and Sugar quilt that I made for my son-in-law's sister. She wanted a neutral quilt to fit a king size bed. I made this quilt from the book entitled "Cream and Sugar" from Its Sew Emma. I quilted it with the quilting pattern Meander 3. Then I used an off-white thread called White Linen.

What I've been working on lately

Good evening friends! Sorry I haven't posted for a bit. We were having a bit of facebook computer issues with getting authorizations and authenticators fixed up. Anyway.... a new quilt post will be tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a couple projects I've been working on for myself lately. 1) My first english paper pieced item - called Tula Nova (with lion in middle).

2) playing around with foundation piecing. Found a free double flying geese pattern. Going to make a bunch with Tula Pink fabric and use it was a border for a quilt.

3) Trying out a foundation paper pieced log cabin block. (and yes - I messed up my light and dark in the middle).

4) Finished piecing my daughter's green quilt - it's from a Then Came June pattern called Ombre All Day.

Ran out of bobbin thread today - oops!

All you quilters out there - You know when you sew and you realize that you've run out of bobbin thread - sometime later? Well, here's what it looks like on a longarm quilting machine. Normally I hear it when I've run out of bobbin thread - but not today.
