Face mask cages

Good evening, Friends!

A client passed on a really good tip to me and I wanted to return the favor and pass it on to you. She purchased a silicon plastic face cage that goes under your cotton face mask. It works really well! You don't breathe in your mask anymore. And it helps a little with the glasses fogging up issue. I ordered them online and received them two days ago and it's made all the difference. I believe they're called lipstick protectors/face cages. They're about $2 each.  Happy breathing!

Business update 5/28/2020

Business update: Hey friends! Thought I'd update you all on how I'm doing.........fanfare........ I'm down to only 4 client quilts in my studio! This hasn't happened in 9 years. I'm so excited! I will be finishing every quilt by the end of next week. After that, I'm taking a month vacation. I will be accepting new quilts starting Monday July 13. I want to say Thanks to all my clients and tell you all how much I appreciate your business and you all waiting for me to open again to work on your quilts. To honor that patronage, I will not be accepting any new clients for the forseeable future. I want to be able to spend time exclusively on your quilts. I'll put out another update once I've finished these last 4 quilts.

My business coronavirus update

Good morning, my friends! I wanted to take a moment and clarify my operations during this quarantine period in the State of Ohio.

You’ve probably been seeing all my “what’s on the long arm today “ posts. I had a huge 40 plus quilt backlog in my studio. So I am still long-arming. And that’s what I’m posting.
However, I am a non-essential business as defined by Governor DeWine during this coronavirus shutdown. Therefore, I cannot transact business- for example- deliver quilts, collect payments, take in new work, etc.

I am truly sorry that I’ve had to hold all your quilts here. It’s certainly not my preference. You’ll see from the attached picture, that my inventory of finished quilts is growing rapidly.

Be safe!

Final Step and Pattern of the Covid-19 scrap mystery quilt along from Cathy Frick (formerly of Sonflower Quilts)

Final Step and Pattern of the coronavirus quilt along from Cathy Frick (formerly of Sonflower Quilts):

It's a free pattern from Gundrun Erla of GE Quilt Designs.
Go to the following web page:
https://gequiltdesigns.com/pages/free-patterns-templates

Scroll down the page and find the free pattern called "Toni".
This "Toni" pattern is the free pattern for the smaller quilt. Follow them for putting your quilt together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are making the bigger quilt, look at the picture I have taken of my first 2 rows. You will make 7 vertical rows of the 1st row. The rectangles of background are all 4 ½” x 10 ½”. The second row starts and ends with 4 ½” x 9 ½” rectangles and have the larger rectangles in the middle areas. You will need 6 of the second row. Alternate them beginning and ending with one of the first row types.

Quilters & Sewers Unite - Help our Hospitals and Medical Personnel

From Lisa Spalding at the Quilt Foundry in Maumee:
Today on Channel 13 I saw a story about quilters making facemasks for doctors. I called Toledo Hospital and they were pretty excited when I told them I could reach out to 1500 sewers through my e-mail. Below is the e-mail I received from Ashley Fritz. There is a link you can fill out if you are interested in helping out.
They can deliver supplies to your home, but I also volunteered to have some dropped off at the shop for people to pick up there. When I opened the link it looked like there was a place to write a comment. You might want to let them know if you can pick up at the shop to save them from driving all over Toledo.

ProMedica Service Excellence
ProMedica is looking for people to volunteer to sew N-95 mask covers to help bridge the gap that may happen soon at our healthcare system. These reusable covers will be washed and sanitized between patients.
I am looking for those who have a sewing machine and are willing to sew these mask covers in their homes – to remain socially distant and keep everyone protected. We are compiling materials and a pattern which we will supply to any interested in helping out.
Here's the link to volunteer to make masks:

Update on my business

Update on my business -

Good morning my friends! As many of you know, my husband has Multiple Sclerosis and a compromised immune system. Because of that and this coronavirus, I'm temporarily changing the way I do business.
1) I am set up here with 30+ quilts that have already come in and will be workingn on those quilts.
2) As I get ready to work on your quilt(s), I'll send you an email and then send you pictures while I'm quilting them, as usual.
3) When your quilt is ready, I'll let you know. We'll set up a pickup time and I'll meet you at my front door. I just cannot allow anyone into our house at this time. I know you all understand.
4) I am not accepting new quilting orders at this time, hopefully for not more than 2-3 weeks.
5) If you have a quilt that is ready for me, please email me at jan@sylvaniaquilting.com. I have already started a list. I will contact you when I start accepting quilts again.
Thanks my friends! As always, I am so grateful that I have the best clients on the planet!
