Snow Days

Cathy F of Sonflower Quilts made a series of really fun applique'd quilts for her grandkids. This one is the first of three quilts, called "Snow days". We chose a freehand swirl quilting pattern. So instead of following a paper design, I quilted the design on the quilt without a pattern (which is called "freehand"). The advantage of this is that I was able to go around the applique designs and just accent them as needed. But I was also able to quilt in the name of her grandson Noah. Really turned out nice!
